Viruses
General virus info for all those who are connected to internet:
If you have a computer that is connected to the internet, it is very important to know how to protect yourself against viruses, trojan horses, or worm viruses.
Even for those who 'finally' have a virus scanner you need to know that you are still NOT 100% save against viruses. It is very important to update your scanner
on a regular base (1st thing when going online). The best known virus scanners, like :McAfee/Norton/Kaspersky/Norman/F-Prot, etc., know many viruses, but still you
need to update, because every week there are new viruses on the net that a none-updated scanner doesn't recognize. This even applies for those who are connected
on a LAN (Local Area Network), like many offices and schools have. Viruses are not only spread by internet, but also by floppies and cd's from other people
(maybe even your best friends one). Getting infected by a virus does not have to be done by mail with attachments or accepting files from other people. Lately
there are sites on the internet that infect your computer just by getting on that site, without doing anything. Luckily, a good virus scanner will block these too.
What is the best virus scanner?
Best answer
I can give you is; use more then one virus scanner. A combination of two good virus scanners is always better then just
one good virus scanner.
Some scanners don't see a certain
virus, another might. Not all virus scanners will not work
with a second virus scanner and see the other one as a virus
or make your computer crash. It is not possible for me to say which two virus scanners work well together. Also having a good firewall will stop some viruses
from getting onto your computer.
Where do I get a scanner?
There are many scanners, but here you have
a few good ones.
